Sustainability
Sustainability is something we do together
At Print&Bind we love beautiful printing, but also a beautiful planet. That is why we do everything we can to produce your order as sustainably as possible. We are always working on smart solutions: from environmentally friendly paper to efficient machines and conscious material choices. In this way we continue to innovate and ensure that you do not have to choose between quality and sustainability. By choosing our sustainable options for your order, we make the printing industry a little better together.
What do we do for the environment?
Our Canon printers work with water-based ink, which is super friendly to people and the environment. No nasty smells, no hazardous substances and therefore no warning stickers needed. Bonus: when recycling, this ink rinses off the paper, which ensures higher paper recycling. And because the printer does not emit ozone thanks to the inkjet technology, we also keep the air clean. In addition, all our paper types are PEFC certified. This means that wood and paper products come from a sustainably managed forest, where equal attention is paid to people, the planet and profit. We also do our utmost to separate our waste as well as possible. This means that our paper and cardboard are collected in a large container that can then be recycled again. Paper materials can be recycled up to 7 times into raw materials for new paper, among other things.
Paper types
We also make conscious choices when it comes to paper. Our paper types have quality marks such as PEFC, EU Ecolabel, EFC and FSC, some even have multiple labels at the same time! These labels are not just stickers, but proof that the paper has been produced in an environmentally friendly way and that the forests from which it comes are managed responsibly. In order to earn such a quality mark, paper must meet strict requirements. And that is exactly why we choose it: together we ensure beautiful printing with the least possible impact on nature.
FSC quality mark: The abbreviation FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council. The international, independent FSC quality mark ensures that raw materials for wood and paper products come from responsibly managed forests, with full attention for the people who depend on the forest.
ECF quality mark: This stands for Elementary Chlorine Free. Paper is sometimes bleached to prevent yellowing and to give the paper a certain whiteness. With ECF certified paper, no chlorine is used to bleach the paper, but a compound of chlorine and oxygen. This compound is much less harmful to the environment.
European Ecolabel: This label indicates that a product, in this case paper, has been produced in an environmentally conscious way. In order to be allowed to use this quality mark, a company must meet strict criteria, such as emissions to water and air and energy use. Chlorine gas may not be used as a bleaching agent.
PEFC quality mark: PEFC is an acronym for Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. This international quality mark guarantees that wood and paper products come from a sustainably managed forest and that this forest is preserved.
ISO certified: Multiple ISO certificates are possible. For example, many of our paper types have an ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certificate. ISO 14001 certified means that a contribution has been made to controlling and reducing environmental risks. ISO 50001 certified relates to improving energy use and (often) the use of green energy.
By using these quality marks it is guaranteed that during production the environment is considered in various areas and is also dealt with in a correct manner. When choosing and using the paper types we certainly take these quality marks into account!
Green power
Our printers run all day long to produce and deliver all orders to our customers on time. Since sustainability is very important, we have therefore opted for Green power. This means that our power is only sustainably generated via water or wind power. In this way, we try to run our printers and machines as environmentally friendly as possible. You can find our green power certificate here.
