Which colors go well together?

Combining colors can be difficult. Because what really fits together nicely and what really doesn't? This is of course a matter of taste, but there are a number of simple rules that you can adhere to.

When looking at a color wheel, different combinations are possible for choosing colors. When you keep these combinations, it can hardly go wrong!

Harmonious colors

These colors are next to each other in a color wheel and therefore all match. They have the same brightness and are therefore all equally present and make it a peaceful whole. In the color wheel you can see that different shades of green all fit together and look calm together.

Contrasting colors

These colors are directly opposite each other in the color circle. For example, in the color wheel above, you can see that blue and orange are contrasting colors. Despite the fact that these colors are directly opposite each other, they can be combined very well and make it a more exciting whole!

Ton-sur-ton

These colors all fall under the same base, but with a different amount of white. Do you really want to make a whole of your color scheme. Then go for ton-sur-ton and keep everything in the same color. This can look very calm, but sometimes also a bit boring. Playing with the brightness in ton-sur-ton colors can make it more playful.

Warm and cold colors

Colors can be divided into warm or cold colors. For example, shades such as red, orange and yellow fall under warm colors. And green, blue and purple among cold colors. White, black and gray are neutral. As seen in the color wheel, warm and cold colors are contrasting from each other. And so good to combine with each other!
