How do I make my prints as sustainable as possible?

There are a couple of things you can do to make your prints more environmentally sustainable. The most obvious ones are: double-sided printing and/or only printing the pages you really need. But we have some other tips to reduce the environmental impact of printing!

Double-sided printing

The advantage of double-sided printing is simple: you use half as much paper as with single sided printing! In addition, it also ensures more manageable size for books, and lower costs!

Sustainable fonts

In addition to less paper, the consumption of less ink also ensures more sustainable printing. Bold, large letters naturally use more ink than thin, small letters. But the choice of font can also make a big difference! For example, Times New Roman has been shown to use 27% less ink than Arial, and Calibri even 23% less. Verdana, on the other hand, uses 10% more than Arial.

Special eco-fonts

Online you can download the font "Ryman Eco". This is a font that has been specially designed to use as little ink as possible, which means that it uses 33% less ink compared to standard fonts such as Times New Roman. The letters are made up of lines, but due to the leakage of the ink, this is not visible with small letters.

Only print the pages you need

Sometimes a document contains a lot of pages that you don't really need. You can then choose to remove these pages from your document, saving you paper, ink and costs! A simple way to do this is with, for example, ilovepdf. On this website you can choose "split PDF", then upload a document and choose "extract pages". Fill in which pages you want to keep, and then download a file with only these pages!

Paper type

You can also choose a paper type that has less environmental impact. For example, our 80 grams Paperwise type of paper is made from agricultural waste. As a result, its ecological footprint is very low! Our other paper types also have different FSC, ECF and other ecological quality marks. But if you really want the most sustainable option, choose Paperwise.
