De bestandstypes met de beste kwaliteit

Which file type produces the best quality prints?

The file type, also called file format, refers to the way a file is stored on a computer. Some well-known examples of file types are word documents, jpg and PDF.

JPEG/JPG

This is a file format commonly used for storing photos. It is important with this format not to open, edit and then save the file again too often. When the document is saved again after editing, there is always a small loss of quality, because each time the document gets compressed. The compression is also one of the advantages of this file type, because the files are small but the images remain detailed. However, the more compression that has occurred, the more quality loss.

TIFF

If you want to avoid the aforementioned quality loss, the .TIFF file format is an alternative. This file format has the highest quality and produces large files, partly because it also has the largest color range. However, for most prints the differences with JPEG will be small.

PNG

A PNG file is similar to a JPEG. But the PNG format uses the RGB color system instead of CMYK, making this file format suitable for screens rather than printing.

PDF

The big advantage of PDF files is that the layout of the document always remains the same, regardless of the software or device used to format or open the document. A high resolution PDF (300 DPI) is very suitable for printing.

Our system automatically converts files to a PDF file for printing. This almost always happens without any problems and you can also check the preview in the order form. However, if you want to make sure that nothing changes in the lay-out, then upload your files in PDF.
